The Breath Energy Training Program

The following basic breath energy skills are taught at the BET. As you practice these simple breathing skills, your ability to use the breath as a Tool for Health Growth and Change will improve dramatically.  The power and potential of breath and breathing will unfold and emerge within you as you gain mastery of these skills.  You will find that the benefits you get from any other breathing exercises you may already practice will increase as a result of exploring these Basic Skills.

The first exercise is most important. It should be thoroughly explored before moving onto the others. The first three skills are built into the Formula for Transformation, and they should be practiced before moving on to the others.  It is important to note that you cannot really learn these skills by reading, anymore then you can learn to swim or ride a bike from a book. The information can add to your skill, or give you some ideas on how to do it, but to really learn you must get the feel of it, find your balance, and practice with a good teacher.

Breathing, like balance, cannot be taught, but it can be learned. These exercises are aimed at increasing breath your awareness, they serve to loosen and relax your breathing mechanism and to expand your breathing capacity. They are meant to increase your flexibility and power. In a sense, this development takes place in you, and is only reflected and expressed through the breath. On the other hand, when these effects are produced on the level of breath, they translate or transfer seamlessly to every level of your being, and to your core!

Finally, remember that a healthy person should be able to breathe quickly or slowly, deeply or shallowly, with ease and at will. A healthy person should be able to send the breath high into the chest as well as low into the belly as needed or as desired, with equal ease and comfort. For the most part, when the breathing mechanism is uninhibited, it will reflect and express your moment to moment natural state. A healthy breathing mechanism will automatically adjust itself to your energy. It will respond naturally to chemical or metabolic changes, to the intensity of your emotional experience or physical activity. And, it should respond easily effortlessly to your conscious will.
