Where Are We? The Big Picture

We live in an increasingly challenged world, on all levels - one in which the best and worst of human potential appears to exist simultaneously. As our species extends increasing domination over and consumption of global resources, we are stressing the fundamental ecological systems that underpin human survival on the planet and creating increasing stress on ourselves and other species - evident in increasing rates of extinction, in climate change and in many other signs of imbalance. Ultimately our survival and well-being rests in our capacity for recognizing our positive role and becoming part of solution. We are nature working.

What is Solution?

True solution is that which respects truth and is an answer to a challenge; leading to abundance for all evolving life on earth through a deepening appreciation and respect for natural laws (laws of nature). Abundance means having all our needs met and having plenty to share (meeting our needs, not our greeds). Moving towards sustainable systems, we recognize that a sustainable system is one that, over its lifetime, produces the energy (and materials) needed to build and sustain itself. Such systems exhibit characteristics of cooperation, collaboration, and community - whether observed as a functioning ecosystem, or a healthy community of cells within our own bodies. These are the models that can help to guide us as they have healthy and successful human communities throughout history.

Our Vision

With this understanding as a background, our vision in a nutshell is co-creating and manifesting a space in which we are:

Recreating the garden of Eden in meeting fundamental human needs

Demonstrating possibilities in terms of eco-systemic development and community, healing, learning and exploring

Living in respect of earth and all inhabitants

Balancing mind body and spirit in work and play

Teaching and learning in equal measure - seeking and sharing knowledge

Contributing to a vibrant local community, connecting to other nodes of excellence internationally

Economically self-sustaining

This vision requires conscious living, making choices and taking decisions that are in line with an understanding of sustainability. It means moving away from the many controlling forces that would convince us to serve the needs of distant powers, rather than live in true community. We are interested in working with people who recognize their power to choose and to make conscious change whilst enjoying the process.

Immediate Goals

Our goals over the next six months are to:

1. Secure legal title to the land.

2. Identify 12 additional founders

3. Finalize the legal operating structure and 'founders agreement' with

Stakeholders, - the 'invisible' structures that underpin the design.

4. Ongoing fundraising via invitations to learn by participation for 'vision

builders'.

5. Begin the first phase of design and construction.

Founders Wanted

In order to meet these goals, we need others to join with us as 'founders' - wishing to help lay the foundation, deepen our vision, and help to manifest it . Founders are visionaries and doers. We need inspiration, a plan, and to roll up our sleeves to do the work. We have the seeds, your participation enriches and deepens that which already exists. Becoming a founder involves a fee of $15,000 in order to help secure the land and ensure we have the resources to continue to evolve the project.

We see founders as those who have an awareness of what is going on around them at this time, and are moving towards a sustainable life, moving away from controlling forces and recognizing the need to form community. Founders are perhaps practical or pragmatic dreamers, with a vision of what can be changed and the willingness to work towards that change, recognizing that often the biggest obstacles in reality are those within ourselves.

Founder Benefits

Recognizing that founders are special folks, we envision benefits beyond hard work and play:

Lifetime membership to the project

Unique site access: one month block of time each year when founders and their families can join each other on the land to work, relax, recharge and plan.

Participation opportunity in evolving sustainable ventures connected with the site. We are currently working on a business strategy that includes the following potential elements:

Retreat center

Ecotourism

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

Healing center

Consulting work

Sanctuary in the midst of uncertain times - where founders and their immediate family could potentially find refuge if necessary. The location has been selected with security in mind, security through community on a local level, with access to nearby food production and good water sources. The site itself will be developed to ensure food production is an appropriate focus within the overall design.

Energy flows, both physically and in terms of ideas are enhanced by involvement of additional people sharing the passion, skills and vision to grow the project. The strategies above are designed to help generate a sustainable flow in support of the project evolution. Part of this evolution is to research and bring in those who understand true solutions and are looking to share key parts of the puzzle involved in developing such a site.

We are currently designing the legal structure surrounding participation to ensure that Founders have flexibility in their membership - allowing for the possibility of transfer should circumstances require it. These and other relevant topics are to be outlined in a 'founders agreement' that we look forward to co-designing with founders of the project. Part of this evolution is to learn from other successful models where folks have participated together in shared ventures and evolved appropriate social and financial structures. Perhaps you have part of this knowledge to contribute.

'Solution Revolution'

Part of the flow is in evolving a solution oriented vessel through which solutions can flow. The Solution Revolution has been established as a US non-profit entity in order to facilitate this process. Baja Bio Sana, the Mexican non-profit entity currently involved in the purchase of the land in Baja California Sur is to be supported as a project of the Solution Revolution. In each case, non-profits without a specific profit-driven agenda are seen as appropriate vessels through which to hold title for the land. Some of the proposed activities on the Baja Bio Sana site may by law require a for-profit structure. This will be evolved to harmonize with the ethics and support the sustainable vision using best practice in sustainable or green business models.

'Vision Builders'

As part of the development of the site, it is envisioned to hold workshops and various types of training in permaculture site design, sustainable building, etc. Fee paying participants in such training will contribute to the site development as part of the experiential learning. We are also considering an invitation to 'vision builders' at a significantly smaller financial level than founders in an approach analogous to 'tribe wanted'. Such people will participate in the project evolution by participation in online forums to share ideas and have the opportunity to make self funded trips to the site to participate in workshops and site development work.
