SPIRITUAL PSYCHOLOGY

The original Rebirthing movement was based upon this philosophy:

Start with Enlightenment.  Become enlightened!

What is enlightenment?  Enlightenment is certain knowledge of the absolute truth.

What is the absolute truth?  THOUGHT IS CREATIVE.

Positive thoughts produce positive results.  Negative thoughts produce negative results. Your thoughts and your beliefs about reality determine your experience. Your mind: conscious and unconscious, controls your experience of reality.  The world around you is a reflection of the world within you. Positive thoughts produce positive results.  Negative thoughts produce negative results. Your thoughts and your beliefs about reality determine your experience. Your mind: conscious and unconscious, controls your experience of reality.  The world around you is a reflection of the world within you.

The Analysis Principle

If your thoughts create your reality, what thoughts (past and present) must you be thinking in order to be experiencing what you are right now? If your thoughts create your reality, what thoughts (past and present) must you be thinking in order to be experiencing what you are right now?

Exercise 1: Prepare a notebook or paper, Prepare a notebook or paper, or use your journal, and begin to write every thought that passes through your mind. Do ten minutes of uninterrupted writing.  Catching every thought in your stream of consciousness without editing. That is, do ten minutes of uncensored thought recording.  Once you begin, don't let your pen stop moving.  Write every random thought that you generate.

Exercise 2:  Prepare some notepaper with room for the following processes. Complete the statements quickly and without hesitating or trying to say it right or word it correctly. Trust what your mind throws at you.  Breathe while you write.

  • 3 things I like (liked) about my mother are...

  • 3 things I dislike about my mother are...

  • 3 things I like (liked) about my father are...

  • 3 things I dislike about my father are...

  • 3 things I like about myself are...

  • 3 things I dislike about myself are...

  • 3 things I like about my (significant other) are

  • 3 things I dislike about my (significant other) are...

  • The single most negative, limiting thought I have about myself is......

  • The single most negative, limiting thought I have about life is.....

  • My worst fears are...

  • My

  • I get uncomfortable when...

  • It bothers me to think that...

  • I smile whenever...

  • My idea of heaven on earth is....

This process may take a bit of time.  It may be difficult, but make sure you do it. Much of "how you are" is based upon relationships, events, and circumstances that you take for granted. Going through this list will give you intuitive ideas on other areas to probe. If you do the process, you will begin to read from your personal "book of life."  All the ideas, thoughts, beliefs and insights you flush up with these exercises will become grist for the mill of realizing your higher purpose, and will accelerate your inner growth.  Do these exercises several times over several days. Weed out all your significant consciousness factors.

The Goals Principle

In order to be the creative force in your reality, you must know what you want. You must choose. You must decide. You must brainstorm, plan, imagine, and dream.

Begin to make lists. Make a list of your short-term goals, and your long-term goals. List your physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, business, social goals.  List those things you want to be, do and have, things you want to know, learn, see, feel, experience.  Take as long as you need.  Work over several days, weeks, or months.  Cover as many areas of your life as you can. Keep adding to the lists, rewriting them, etc.

Affirmation Principle

If your thoughts create your reality, what thoughts must you think in order to experience the reality you choose?  Go through your uncensored thoughts and your list of statements.  Put a "+" sign or a "-" sign near every thought and statement, based on whether they are positive or negative, enlivening deadening, limiting or liberating. Now write affirmations to begin to create an internal reality that will begin to transform your experience of external reality.

Neutralize negative thoughts with their opposites. Write statements of forgiveness or acceptance to counter any tendencies to withdraw love or create separation.

For example, "it is ok to be (.......), or

"I love myself whether I am (.......) or not."

In the case of your most negative thought, simply reverse it.  For example if it is "I am not good enough."  Your affirmation becomes "I am good enough." or "I love and accept myself just the way I am," etc.

Support and strengthen your positive thoughts. Eliminate and reverse your negative thoughts.  Remember the old song "Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative..?"

Starting the journey is really that simple!
