The Formula for Transformation
1) AWARENESS
Meditative
awareness is the practice of insight. It is the process of
tuning
into the inner world of your
thoughts, feelings and sensations- this is
the first part of the
formula. Place your
awareness on the breath. This practice can be described as simply observing,
noticing, or paying attention--moment to moment--to the movement of
breath, and all that it entails. This awareness involves no judging, comparing,
or analyzing of the experience. It does not involve
controlling the breath in any way.
Simply put yourself in the role of be a detached
witness. Let your awareness include all the sensations, feelings,
thought and images that
come and go. Don't cling to any or feed any. Simply allow them
to come and go from your awareness, as you continually return to "Breath
Watching."
2)
RELAXATION
Everyone
can relax. But how deeply, how quickly, and in the midst of
what situations can you relax? Does
your current state of relaxation exclude
certain muscle groups? Do you store tension in certain places? Are some
parts of your body chronically tense? Do certain feelings, events or
conditions automatically cause tension, tightness or contraction in you. The better you are at relaxing, especially in the face of
intensity, the more power you can
derive from the breath, and the more value you will get from the breathing
techniques.
3)
BREATHWORK
If
you can change the way you breathe, you can change anything else
about
yourself. And by consciously altering your breathing pattern, you can
alter
any physical, psychological, or
spiritual state that you find yourself in.
The ability to breathe fully and freely, and to direct or release
the breath, at any time, in any
situation, is extremely empowering. And, the ability
to breathe energy and not just air, is the key to this path or method
of self healing and spiritual purification.
