I just finished 10 days of sessions and seminars in Romania. We did a program in Bucharest, and also at The Pyramid Retreat in the center of the country in Sebeș.

Before Romania, I was in Thailand (just in time for the earthquake!). We had some very seasoned breathworkers, therapists, teachers, coaches, speakers and influencers, and some wonderful newbies discovering, exploring, and developing the power and potential of the breath.

A Powerful 20 Minute Prana Yoga Protocol
|
This Month, I invite you to practice a 5-part Prana Yoga practice. It’s a very good way to start your day, and it also makes for a good evening practice. The idea is to do Alternate Nostril Breathing. But before you do, build up some energy to work with.
1. Start with Breath of Fire (Kapalabhati Pranayama) to activate energy in your root chakra and your dan tien or hara. Do this to prepare to raise your energy up into your skull.
Make the exhale very active using your abdominal muscles to squeeze or pump the air out, and let the inhale be passive. Breathe in the nose and out the mouth. Do 30 or 40 rapid breaths like this, and then take a deep breath in and hold it for about 10 seconds, while pulling up on your perineum. Relax and let the breath come and go by itself for about 30 seconds, while you meditate on your energy.
2. Practice a form of Tummo Breathing: active inhale and passive exhale, in thru the nose and out thru the mouth. Breathe 30 or 40 big full breaths, and then hold your breath out for about 15 seconds while pulling up on your perineum. Relax and meditate on your energy body for about 30 seconds.
3. Then shift to Bellows Breath (Bhastrika Pranayama). Do 30 or 40 big fast full breaths in and out thru the mouth, using an active inhale and an active exhale. Then hold your breath in for about 15 seconds while pulling up on your perineum. Relax and meditate on your energy (your pranic body) for about 30 seconds.
4. Now practice Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana Pranayama): block one nostril with your thumb or ring finger and exhale and inhale through the other nostril.
Start with a count of 4. Exhale 4, inhale 4, and hold 4. Then switch nostrils: exhale, inhale, and hold for 5 seconds. Then switch. Exhale, inhale and hold for 6 seconds, then switch. Keep slowing your breath down… 7-7-7, 8-8-8, 9-9-9, 10-10-10, 11-11-11, 12-12-12.
5. Then finish with the Humming Bee Breath (Bhramari Pranayama). Close your mouth, cover your eyes, block your ears, and then hum a long exhale, creating vibrations in your head. Repeat this 5 or 6 times, and then relax and meditate..
That’s it. A very powerful Breathwork (Pranayama) Protocol.
