It shouldn’t surprise anyone who has done a lot of deep dive breathing sessions that the Path of Breath Mastery is a Path to Ultimate Freedom.
Breathwork is about connecting to our source and to the spirit of life within us and around us. It’s about awakening our natural healing and creative energies. It’s about getting to the essence of things, and excelling at those things.
Breathwork is about spiritual purification. It’s about turning weaknesses into strengths, and transforming limitations into possibilities. It’s about getting free of tension and pain, fear and anxiety, anger and resentment, limiting beliefs and negative programming.
Personal freedom comes through the mastery of a whole range of breath and breathing exercises, techniques and meditations. It comes about by being more conscious and aware, more relaxed and alive, more loving and present.
All of this was reconfirmed during a five-day private training I recently did in Montreal with Roberto Sabatini, his family, his team, and a group of his students and clients.
Robert is a former world champion bodybuilder, and now he is focused on becoming a master Breathworker.
Working with Rob reminded me that to unlock our full power and potential, we need to be total. We need to be child-like and zen-like. We need to be creative and spontaneous, as well as disciplined.
We need to be willing to do the breathing and to be breathed. We need to play with the channel, speed, volume, pace, with sound, movement and visualization. We need to play with circles and cycles and rhythms.
We need to play with yawning and sighing, hyperventilation and breath holding. We need to learn how to relax into intensity and to be able to “puddle out!” We need to release fear and pain from the body and our nervous system.
We need to breathe into our heart, and to infuse every cell with breath-energy. We need to learn how to breathe energy and not just air. We need to be willing to feel deeply, because we can’t heal what we won’t feel!
We need to get comfortable with the uncomfortable, tolerate the intolerable, love the unlovable. We need to love and serve, soothe and strengthen, and to uplift others. And, if we are ready and willing, it doesn’t really matter which spiritual breathing exercise, technique or meditation we practice.
And so this month, I encourage you play with: the Full Yogic Breath; Conscious Connected Breathing; Still Point Breathing; the Ooh-Aah-Hah Breath; the 2 Little Breaths 1 Big Breath Pattern; the 2-Part Inhale; Sufi Techniques, Shamanic Breathing; and Subtle Energy Breathing.
Most importantly, you need to creatively integrate Breath Awareness and Conscious Breathing with passion and enthusiasm into everything you do! In fact, you need to meet and greet whatever arises in consciousness with the breath–that is by opening and expanding, relaxing and letting go!
Good luck in your practice, and many blessings on your path.
